Evolution & Fertility

These two pieces were the result of processing some of the things around my life lately (as usual). My sister's pregnancy, James Bond (my son's latest obsession), Easter eggs, marbles, the current nice weather, and who knows what else is behind the curtains in my unconscious mind.

Funny process...it's like a food processor (another thing in my life) in which you add all these things, plus accidental or planned colour combinations, a little of trial and error, and my luggage (or lifetime experiences), and you never know what you'll get. Sometimes everything works around an idea though, but it's always a surprise anyways. At least for me. No wonder art can be so exciting; this creative act keeps everything going on ...and on...

Nando Costa

Check out these gorgeous wood engravings and illustrations from Brazilian artist Nando Costa. I found him via The Laser Cutter, and he's also on Etsy. Eye Candy...

Surprise Element

River

Underground Cities

These are my new ones. They have nothing in common as you can tell. My art has always been quite experimental; I guess that's why the results are usually different. As I take a route, I get distracted by another, and so and so. My paintings rarely end up being what I planned first. The surprise element is so important to me...sometimes I feel the piece "paints" itself, or that there's somebody else behind it. I can clearly see the influences of my daily experiences and the things I like in them, but the structure or "grammar" of my pieces comes to life the moment I create them. I guess that's why art is so important to me. I never know what I will get, and it helps me explore and reveal my unconscious mind.
